We have been doing everything we can to keep the possibility of summer camp alive for as long as we could, and had hoped that Camp Hickory Hill summer camp would be there for your sons and/or daughters this summer. Sadly, after much prayer, conversations with government officials and other experts, and most recently hearing from our county Health Department that there is virtually no hope for children’s overnight Summer Camp Programs to run this year, we feel we have no choice but to cancel the 2020 girls and guys summer camp programs.
We are however happy to offer some new opportunities for families this summer. Below is a preliminary schedule we are planning for the summer. Keep looking for correspondence and updates on our website regarding the events below. Registration will be open soon for these events.
  • Family Fireworks 1 – Saturday, July 4 to Monday, July 6
  • Pastors Day – Tuesday, July 14
  • Family Frenzy – Saturday, July 18
  • Father & Son Day – Saturday, August 1
  • Pastors Family Retreat – Sunday, August 2 to Wednesday, August 5
  • Family Fair – Saturday, August 15
  • Family Fireworks 2 – Friday, August 28 to Sunday, August 30

YOUTH CAMPS

Weekly overnight camps for ages 8-16

Description of our Summer Camps

Our Summer Camp Programs are designed to provide excitement and fun while encouraging the camper to grow spiritually and socially. All summer camp programs follow a similar format. Each day includes activity and game times, Bible exploration, praise and worship, meals, and other times spent as a cabin group. Everyone who attends camp will have opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ, grow closer to God in their Christian walk, and develop godly lifestyle habits that will continue when they return home.

The differences between each of the programs listed below is primarily in how they spend a few hours each day participating in selected activities. All of the other aspects of the schedule are identical in each program.

Activities may include: Archery, BBs, Canoeing, Crafts, Fishing, Go-Carts, High Ropes Challenge Course, Rifles, Rock Climbing Wall, Sports, and Zip Line

Please note our Summer Camp Schedule has changed. We have condensed our weeks and as a result have adapted our dates and programs. You will see our current Summer Camp programs below. These are different than originally published in our brochure and on the website. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Campers stay in cabins with about 8 campers around their age and at least 2 camp counselors. Cabins have bunk beds with camp style foam camp mattresses with vinyl covers. Campers bring their own sleeping bags and pillows. Bathroom facilities are in separate buildings located near the cabins, and have heated showers.

A typical packing list includes: a sleeping bag, pillow, 2 pairs of sneakers, towel, toiletries, rain gear, swimwear, water bottle, plenty of clothes (including some to get dirty), a Bible, and some spending money for the camp store. Other items may be added depending on the program the camper attends. We ask campers not to bring cell phones, electronics, knives or weapons, valuables, tobacco, alcohol, or food containing peanuts. A complete packing list and other information is included with our registration confirmation.

Our dedicated food service team takes great pride in providing quality, nutritious food to all of our guests. We serve well balanced meals with care taken to make sure our menu includes nutritious foods most children enjoy. Our food is served cafeteria-style, meaning everyone is served their meals directly from our food service counters on onto trays. A salad bar is often available in addition to the main dish and side dishes.

Allergy Information: We take great care to provide as best we can for kids with food allergies. We strive to be a peanut-free camp, though some ingredients may be processed in facilities containing nuts. We can often accommodate other food allergies and gluten-free needs. Please let us know in advance if your camper has special dietary needs and we will communicate with you how we can best meet those needs.

A Registered Nurse is on site 24/7 to provide first aid and medical attention as directed by your family physician. Our Health Form must be completed by your doctor prior to camp to give us this direction.

Any child on medication will receive his medicine at the proper times from our nurse. Any illness or injury that occurs during camp will be assessed by our nurse and proper measures taken based on their assessment and any instructions on the medical form. Parents will be notified in the event of a serious illness or injury.

We encourage parents to write emails and/or letters to their child while at camp. Parents can sign up for e-camp where they can email their child and see pictures of camp activities each day. You can also send mail to your child at the camp’s address. In the case of an emergency you can contact the camp 24/7. We ask that campers leave cellular phones and other electronics at home.

All staff members love the Lord and love working with children. Each staff member is screened carefully with three references and a pastor to contact. Interviews and background checks are performed.

The daily schedule varies for each program. Every program includes the following on a daily basis:

  • Regular meal times
  • Game times
  • Praise & worship
  • Adventure Activities
  • Bible Exploration
  • Camp Store time
  • Swimming
  • Cabin Cleanup
  • Campfire

Activities may vary for specialty programs. For specific information on each program, refer to the program’s page on our website.

SUMMER STAFF

Serve on our summer team

About Summer Staff

Camp Hickory Hill relies on many staff and volunteers to serve the Lord through this ministry during our summer camp programs. Whether you’ve served on our summer team before or if this would be your first time, we’re glad you’re interested in serving. In this section you will find information about summer positions and how to apply to be on our team, along with other resources to help you prepare to serve this summer. If you have any questions, please contact us at info@camphickoryhill.org

Senior Leaders oversee a cabin group or an activity, such as fishing, canoeing, or sports, and can serve for 1 week or more.

Collegian Leaders oversee a cabin group or an activity, and sometimes receive special certified training to help at specific activities, like our High Ropes Challenge Course or Rock Wall. Collegian leaders make up a good core of our summer staff, and we would love to have you as a part of this team!

Junior Leaders assist in a cabin or activity. Their leadership skills are developed through the supervision of Collegians and Senior Leaders, and are given more responsibility as they grow in their leadership development. Junior Leaders must have completed our Leader in Training program.

Our Leader in Training Program is designed to develop godly leadership skills in teens that will help them grow in their faith while implementing on-the-job leadership. For more information on this program click here.

We have a camp nurse on site at all times while summer camp is in session. If you are a certified medical professional, please consider spending a week of your time in this position. Contact us for more information on qualifications.

Our kitchen staff keeps the entire camp running! It takes a large team of cooks to keep everyone fed. If you enjoy working in the kitchen, this position may be for you.
