FOR KIDS WITH SPECIFIC NEEDS

If your son or daughter has specific or special needs that may need extra attention, please read below to see how we may be able to accommodate you and your family.

A.D.H.D. (or similar)

Kids with A.D.H.D. or similar attention or hyperactivity disorders often benefit from an active environment like summer camp. We have an R.N. on site who can administer prescribed medications, as long as they are ordered by the child’s doctor and the C.H.H. camper health form is completed by the doctor. We are generally able to accommodate these needs and provide the proper care for your child. It helps us to know in advance so that we can be aware, so please let us know if you are registering your child for camp, and feel free to reach out with any questions.

Autism Spectrum

We understand that there are a wide range of needs for kids who have a form of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Because of the unique needs of each kid, we ask that parents contact us prior to registering your child for camp if they are on the spectrum. By having this personal conversation we can assess whether we can care properly for your child while at camp. While we do our best to accommodate as many needs as possible, we are unable to adequately accommodate campers who regularly require extra one-on-one attention.

Behavioral Issues

Whether a diagnosed condition like O.D.D. or simply kids who have a hard time listening and obeying, we do our best to accommodate these needs. If you are unsure if your child would thrive at camp and would like to talk about whether we can accommodate their needs, please feel free to reach out to us. For campers with medications, we have an R.N. on site who can administer prescribed medications, as long as they are ordered by the child’s doctor and the C.H.H. camper health form is completed by the doctor. While our desire is to have your child at camp, it is important to note that we are unable to adequately accommodate campers who regularly require extra one-on-one attention.

Special Dietary Needs

We do our best to accommodate special dietary needs and food allergies. During the registration process, there is an opportunity for you to let us know if your camper has special dietary needs or allergies. Please communicate that with us and we will then contact you with how we can best meet your needs. You may be asked to bring supplemental food for certain allergy needs. If your camper has an epi-pen for a food allergy, they are able to keep that with them per doctor’s orders noted on the C.H.H. camper health form.

Other Needs

It is difficult to address every potential need, however if you have questions in advance of registering your child, please let us know. After registering your child for camp, there is a confidential parent’s questionnaire that you can fill out to let us know about your child. This form can be very helpful for their camp leaders, letting them know about your child’s personality, likes, dislikes, and any specific information you’d like to share.
