WHAT IS NEXT STEPS?

Next Steps is Camp Hickory Hill’s comprehensive vision to continue moving forward in the ministry of helping people grow closer to God and to each other through camp, retreat, and conference experiences. Our team is following the Lord as He leads us in faith toward a bold and comprehensive vision for the future of camp. Reaching this vision is only possible with your help! Below is a peek at where we’re headed, and information on how you can be a part of it.

THREE ASPECTS OF THE VISION

PROGRAMS

STAFF

FACILITIES

Camp’s programs are how our mission is accomplished. Our summer camps, year-round retreats, guest group programs, and conferences are the experiences through which we facilitate discipleship and growth.

Our on-site programs currently consist of summer camps, year-round retreats, and guest groups consisting of churches and Christian organizations. These programs effectively accomplish the mission and no significant changes are anticipated. Our team routinely evaluates each event and program to maximize effectiveness and make any changes to, additions of, or discontinuation of specific events.

The CHH team is essential to carrying out our programs, caring for our facilities and grounds, promoting the ministry, and carrying out all the duties that running a camp entails. We want to ensure that we have the proper staff in place so that we can fulfill all of camp’s needs while serving with excellence, humility, love, faith, and integrity.

It takes hundreds of staff and volunteers to operate the ministry throughout the year and we are thankful for each of them. Our core team consists of our paid year-round staff and is the focus of this part of the Next Steps Vision.

The buildings and land that make up Camp Hickory Hill are crucial to effective ministry. In many ways camp is its facilities and grounds. Our facilities must meet the needs of our programs, providing excellent experiences for our guests that will draw them closer to God. They must also meet the needs of our staff so that we can effectively serve the ministry.

Our existing property and buildings are a blessing to the ministry, but there is more to be done. In order to continue to provide the best experience for our guests, to meet the needs of our year-round programs and growing staff, some additions and changes are needed to our facilities.

WHAT DOES THIS LOOK LIKE?

Below you will see a visual representation of our vision for each of the three aspects: Programs, Staff, and Facilities.

The Programs

Our current on-site programs consist of our summer camps, CHH events, and guest groups. We envision these continuing with the current emphases still in place.

The Staff

Our staff positions have been designed to best serve the needs of the ministry. You may note that some of the positions listed are to be added over time, while other current positions may be transitioned out or changed to meet the needs of the ministry.

The Facilities

New or repurposed buildings are highlighted and numbered with the key showing what they will be. The order of implementation will be determined by the needs of the ministry and what funds are available.

Gym, Game Room, & Store Complex

This building is next on our priority list. By adding this, we can provide better and larger indoor activity space for our events. This creates a centralized area as well, combining multiple areas in one building. This will also free up the current game room building for office space. The drawings and images shown are preliminary as we work with architects and builders to develop the final plans.
